Bathroom Tile | Porcelain Bathroom Tile

Article

Every time porcelain comes up in design, it reminds me of a porcelain baby doll, high-value, fashion-forward, and very delicate. Yet, porcelain is not delicate, porcelain is a denser, more porous, and harder option that offers greater stain and water resistance than ceramic tile. An article that we recently read called “Reasons to Choose Porcelain Tile,” stated that porcelain tile is a very popular choice amongst homeowners, and porcelain offers unmatched design versatility. Would you choose porcelain tile for your bathroom? There are two basic types of porcelain tile:

  1. Through-bodies: “The color and texture run all the way through this type of tile, disguising chips or scratches. Strong and durable, it contains no glaze that can wear off. It’s suitable for floors, walls, and countertops.”
  2. Glazed: “Completely covered in a wear layer of hard finish that is typically covered. It is strong and dense and offered the widest range of colors and designs.”

With every bathroom tile option comes advantages and disadvantages, with that said it’s always best to review all of your options and narrow down the best choice for your home. We must add, porcelain tile is considered fairly difficult to install. Therefore, installation is usually best left to professionals.
